5 out of 5 stars Great amp for its price   September 18, 2009

I bought this amp a few months ago from Amazon and wanted to wait just to make sure it was a keeper. I use this amp to power my whole house audio system and it does it with no problem what so ever. It can power 8 Phonix gold ATC6 speakers along with 2 ATC8 speakers and holds up pretty well. You do have to get some plugs to convert the jacks to RCA which wasnt a big deal for me. No static or buzzing even with the 10+ fluorescent fixtures and i dont know how many CFL's that would make my old home theater amp go crazy with noise. This amp is a great value for its price and I will be purching another one when I finish off the basement.

I don't know if this is really some 700W per channel, but its been loud enough for us in a small club setting! I would (and probably will soon) buy another one.

After purchasing a PTA1000 I was putting in a home Karaoke system and used the PTA1400. Fits the budget nicely and performs well.

Pros:
Powers 2x 15" Peavey Cabinets well.
Fits into 19" rack

Cons:
Noisy fans (But for the price, it really doesn't bother me)
The LED light do not work (they didn't work on the PTA1000 either, but again for the price, that doesn't bother me)

If you need power and on a budget, these are the way to go.

5 out of 5 stars Good power for the money, gets the job done!   July 27, 2010

I own 2 of these amps in a DJ rig. One runs a pair of 300W @ 4ohm mains and the other is bridged to run a single 8ohm 300W 18" sub. Now it's not going to tear your face off, but it will get loud enough for crowds of a couple hundred. I've even added another pair of 12" speakers in parallel with the mains (6ohm total load) to get a wider sound dispersion in larger or outdoor venues. I've never had a problem with overheating as each unit uses two fans and I run them at about 80% gain. That's just enough to get me a little more headroom on the mixer before I get excessive clipping. I'm very satisfied with these amps especially for the price. For the size of my gigs and current budget, these could not have worked out better. They're even cheap enough that you could keep one on hand as a spare, but I've found them to be reliable.

This was the second Pyle unit I purchased. I got the first from another vendor, the second from Amazon. Both units had a dent in the bottom which initally appeared secondary to damage which occured after manufacturing (I retuned the original unit) The second unit had an identical dent as the first. I assumed it was a factory defect. When I plugged in the second unit one channel did not work. To Amazon.com's credit, it was easy to return the unit and I got a prompt refund but I doubt I will purchase any additional Pyle equipment.
